Italian Gardens centenary

Please join us in the Italian Gardens on Sunday 26 June at 2.00 pm to celebrate the centenary of the Italian Gardens.

Our 'Countdown to 2022' campaign to reinstate the stone spheres at the foot of the stage structure has been a great success, thanks to members of the Friends, members of the Meads Community Association, and those who support us through the Eastbourne Local Lottery. The highlight of the afternoon will be the unveiling of the spheres by our MP Caroline Ansell.

Since the early days of the Friends, we have worked closely with the Eastbourne Operatic and Dramatic Society, the organisation which brings Shakespeare's plays to the Italian Gardens every summer. I am delighted to announce that musicians and singers from EODS will be performing a selection of arias from Italian operas and Neapolitan songs. Recorded music will also be played during the course of the event featuring tunes from the 1920s. if you would like to get into the spirit we are also encouraging our guests to dress in the style of that era and perhaps wear your dancing shoes.

There will be pizza, fresh from a wood-fired oven, Italian desserts, Prosecco, and other Italian wines and soft drinks will also be served.

All proceeds will go to our fund to make more improvements to our parks.

We hope that you will join us for what we are sure will be a very special occasion.
